Since I hatched there always seemed to be a camera hanging about, so it was inevitable that one day I would pick one up, Dad wasn't to pleased, it was his Leica, For my 10Th birthday I became the proud owner of an Halina 35X and three cassettes of 35ml black and white film, It wasn’t to long before I found a Saturday job running errands for the local chemist, from time to time he would process the odd film or two free of charge, when I say free it then became my job to keep the developing trays and tanks clean.
I was told that the art teacher in the local youth club also taught photography, So the youth club became the place to be, unfortunately there was no photography class, but there was two or three smart girls in the rock climbing class, so I asked the climbing instructor if I could tag along on his next trip and take photos for the club mag, he was quite surprised to find that the club mag had a photographer as he also ran the club mag, but he let me tag along anyway, I guess that was the start of my life outdoors with a camera.
Some time after this I became a youth leader and that put me on the road to becoming an ML (mountain leader) and outdoor pursuits instructor and soon after an SI (senior instructor)
So I guess that's where it all started, the camera never left my side and its still there today, if there’s an afterlife and of that I cant be sure, but if there is keep an eye on my web site?
